What is a Mode 3 AC wallbox charger?
A Mode 3 AC wallbox - also called a Level 2 charger - is the standard home and commercial charging solution in Europe and the Middle East. Connected to a 230 V single-phase or 400 V three-phase supply, it delivers 7 kW to 22 kW, typically adding 30-120 km of driving range per charging hour, and is up to ten times faster than charging from a household socket.
Wallboxes are installed in private homes, villas, apartment buildings, hotels, offices and retail car parks. RFID access control and energy monitoring let owners and site operators manage users and bill consumption accurately, which makes the wall-mounted water-resistant EV charger box suitable for both private and semi-public charging in many places
Depending on the market, this product is also called a wallbox, wall-mounted EV charger, AC charging station, EVSE or Mode 3 charging point.
Choosing the right EV charger starts with the local grid and climate. In Europe, wallboxes are normally installed on a 230 V single-phase or 400 V three-phase supply and must be protected by a Type B residual current device; in the Middle East, installations have to cope with ambient temperatures up to 50 °C, dusty and humid coastal air and 220-240 V grids. This wallbox is designed for both markets: IP65 outdoor-rated housing, an integrated Type B RCD (AC 30 mA + DC 6 mA), an emergency stop button and an operating range of -30 °C to +50 °C. Select your output - 7 kW, 11 kW or 22 kW - and the connector your market uses: Type 2 for Europe and the GCC, Type 1, GB/T or Tesla for other regions.
